Adding a note for anyone whose Bluestar is not working, after a couple years I had a small problem, I could connect with bluetooth, but could not get the unit to take calls or olay music. The red emergency button would not work (this is only for playing music and voice calls with Bluestar.)...
The ISimple sound was fabulous (over 3mm jack), but I had to choose between it and the Bluestar, and I needed the bluetooth more than the stereo.
I wuld gladly try the wiring, but would need to know exactly which to tie into.
Update: It appears this is only a temporary solution, as the new slot has shifted the door alignment. Looks like I'll be looking for a used door. Else one could fiddle with welding options.
Last week I noticed my fuel door was flopping open. It would swing open and closed at will. I looked online and found a tip in another Chevy forum, and am posting my version of the fix here.
In short, there is a slot that the spring tensioner fits in, and when it rusts away, the spring has...
So here's the deal. I could not get the ISimple ISGM535 to work with the Bluestar. Calls in or out would not work, Siri would not work. It streamed stereo quite well, but it was not compatible with the phone, which is the main reason I wanted this. It was compatible with Onstar, but only if...
In some stereo systems, a mono setting would simply mean that the same mix of sound is coming out of the speaker pair. You wouldn't hear the trumpet in the left, say, and the bass in the right. In this case both speakers work, but mono sound is coming out.
Update: The unit works great. Turns out the wires I needed to get to are accessible above the glove box, but removing the dash would be needed if you ever wanted to pull the Onstar out. The only problem I have now is that I can't get it to work with the ISimple ISGM535 unit, which is what...
It does allow for streaming, but the Onstar unit limits that to mono. I picked up an ISimple device to use with it that allows for stereo. If you go to Amazon, one of the top reviews has some good detail on that.
Bluestar is a product that puts bluetooth on the old Chevys with Onstar. What makes them different from other bluetooth conversion kits is that they use the Onstar system, so the microphone is better, the sound is better and you can use the Onstar buttons. I bought mine on Amazon for $299...
I'm trying to install a Bluestar in my 2005 Tahoe, but I can't seem to find the Onstar unit. I''ve ripped out the stereo, looked under the glove box, but don't see anything. I would remove the chassis that the stereo mounts to to look behind it, but it appears to be held in place by rivets...
