An update after visiting the GMC/Chevy dealer in Monahans:
They were no help at all. After waiting for 6 hours a tech came to me and said "You need a new AC/DC inverter, your's is completely shot. Parts will be $5000, labor $7000, how do you want to proceed?"
I asked what DTCs they read and...
I've done alot of fuel system work on other applications, notably GA airplanes and never heard of a self priming fuel pump experience thermal shock. Typically any pump (made after the 90's for any fuel inject application) operating temperature range is designed to handle everything from Arctic...
Thanks for the helpful info @j91z28d1,
I am pretty certain the engine is running on its own. It revs above idle freely and smoothly more than 10 seconds after the crank is initiated. If I remember correctly that's the max amount of time the motor/gen 1 will crank when initiating a start.
I plan...
Hello everyone,
I drive a 2009 Hybrid Tahoe. About six months ago, I replaced the high-voltage hybrid battery, and since then (5k ish miles), I haven’t had any check engine lights or issues. Today, I drove from San Antonio to Pecos, Texas, a trip of about four hours. The car ran perfectly the...
What year is your hybrid? They redesigned the connector on the wiring harness but not the actual pump for year model 2010 and later.
I replaced it myself on my 2009 and it was all pretty uneventful. The new aux pump from GM Part Direct came with a new gasket and the adapter for the wiring...
Are you talking about the O ring on the oil pickup tube inside the pan or the O ring on the oil pressure sending unit?
Edit: that was a dumb question on my part. It must be the oil pickup tube's o-ring.
Other codes were P0AC4 (hybrid aux transmission pump), P0BBD (hybrid battery pack voltage) and P0A80 (Replace hybrid battery pack). These three codes have been reported for the last 4-5 years and I've been ignoring them for the most part.
Planning to replace aux pump soon, however it should be...

Update! My previous post identified the transmission as a CVT (continuously variable transmission), this was inaccurate! It’s actually an ELECTRONICALLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION. This drives and behaves similar to a CVT acceleration wise, but unlike a CVT the EVT relies on several hydraulic...
Update: Hybrid Tahoe is in the shop getting its gas engine completely overhauled/rebuilt.
I decided not to run the overly complicated procedure of preforming a heart transplant.
Hi Tom,
My hybrid just rolled 200,000 last December and is currently in the shop getting a complete engine overhaul (oil pump/hydraulic lifters issues).
Around 150,000 miles the car shutoff completely and wouldn't start while displaying the dreaded "Service hybrid System" message. My chevy...
Do you think it would be possible to swap the damaged Vortec 6L for a commonly found Vortec 5.3L using the original wiring harness on the smaller engine?
I've also emailed a couple GM engine swap experts.
I don't know if that would be possible. I'd have to find a hybrid Tahoe donor for an exact engine replacement in order for the engine to fit the wire harness and communicate with the hybrid control computer. The engine/trans, required harnesses, and ecm/tcm are all different on the non hybrid Tahoe.
I have a 2009 Tahoe Hybrid that recently passed 200,000 miles. Around 150,000 the electric drive train was completely refurbished by my Chevy dealer due to a "Hybrid Error."
A day after turning over 200,000 the vehicle barely started and when it did there was a loud explosion and violent...
