    45psi while hot after taking it around the neighborhood for about 10 minutes. And no issues, just curious why I’m seeing frost on the lines but the ac still works. Maybe it’s worth mentioning that I’m in Florida and we have both front and rear ac going on mid to full blast.

    Can you send that to me in a pm? I flushed it with four gallons of distilled water and it came out orange on the plastic bin I drained it into. Then I filled it with dexcool yesterday. But I don’t mind flushing it again properly so I don’t risk anything gelling up. Thanks.

    So we're about ready to swap in the new motor, i have some parts coming in friday to finish it up before installing. Is there anything special i need to do when filling it with dexcool? I thought about getting a pressure test kit to make sure that the cooling system isn't leaking anywhere before...

    The lifter for that valve was in two pieces when i pulled the head, and the pushrod was bent. I'm guessing the lifter was the culprit since the last owner heard ticking but never investigated .

    I plan to put another motor in. This will be a daily driver which is why I'm looking for another motor. But we plan to rebuild the original and stash it away for a backup in case the "new" motor takes a dump. We like yukons so we plan to keep this truck as long as possible. I like your advice...

    if it helps, now that the passenger head is off, the rotating assembly rotates pretty smooth now. i think i'll put another motor in for now and rebuild the original, shrink wrap it and keep as a backup. I plan to keep the yukon for a long time.

    What do you mean the rest was his fault? And i have decent heads. They just need machine work. Since my motor had #1 piston with a hole from the intake valve bottom breaking off, what's the chances of the crank being fine? I don't mind doing new rings on all 8 pistons and replacing that one...

    I found another 5.3 with decent miles for 200 for a complete long block. The guy is getting rid of it since he swapped in another motor since this one was sludged up. I planned on replacing timing gear, gaskets all around, lifters and oil pump (maybe). Would I be safe steam cleaning the crud out...

    the heads are 317. everything else on that motor is stock 5.3 like mine. so other than the lower compression, the truck will run normal? I'm not interested in compensating for lost compression unless i need to. Thanks

    It has 225K. The plan is to get it road worthy and get another motor from the junkyard that the boy and i will tear down and rebuild as a project. Would it last a year at least if the piston was replaced?

    I bought an 02 yukon xl in pretty decent shape except the engine. The owner said that he heard clunking in the drivetrain, and it chugged to a stop. His mechanic tore basically the whole front end of the engine off, everything but where the issue was and just told him, he'd need a new engine. So...
