I had the GM Performance Exhaust installed

@Jdchap1, I am enjoying the new exhaust. Tomorrow will be a week with it on, and I'm convinced GM's published hp & torque increase for their performance cat-back system is real. I read comments about how exhaust, even cat-back systems, don't add much, and I think those people have good...

    2025 RST Test ride

If I'm test driving a loaner or demo of a new model or refresh to see if I'm interested, I'm going to find out how it moves. But if I'm test driving a particular vehicle because it might be the one I buy and take home, I'll take it a little easier, because I do like to follow proper break in...

I had the GM Performance Exhaust installed

On my original post I mention that GM claims the GMPP exhaust "Helps increase power by up to 11 HP and 6 lb.-ft of torque" and "30% backpressure reduction at 300-g/s, based on correlated flow testing" (those qoutes are directly cut & paste from their website). I was sincere that it was a...

    2023 Tahoe Lift Gate issues

My previous Tahoe, a 2019, had an issue pop up where the back glass did not open but the gate still worked. It ended up being a loose fuse, not blown, just loose. I fiddled with it and the problem went away. Check you fuses.

I had the GM Performance Exhaust installed

When exhaust breaks in does it usually break in louder, or quiet down, or just change tone? I'm on day 3 with this new GMPP exhaust and I can't tell if it sounds a little louder or I'm just giving it more gas more often because I love hearing it.

I had the GM Performance Exhaust installed

I was able to drive some more today while running errands, and you're spot on. With the radio off and paying attention, I can hear the DFM kick in under 55 or so, and I know it's the DFM because I hit L9 on the shifter (which deactivates DFM) and it went away immediately. And then over 65 the...

I had the GM Performance Exhaust installed

Yes, my vehicle is unmodified besides the GM exhaust upgrade, so it has cylinder deactivation like any other Tahoe. You remind me of another reason I chose the GMPP version of exhaust though. The GMPP version still has the exhaust "flapper" included to help minimize drone during cylinder...

I had the GM Performance Exhaust installed

I asked questions here, watched every video I could find on YT, and read as much as I could about the GM exhaust options, and after much consideration I ordered the GMPP exhaust and had it installed today. Specifically the GM Performance Parts exhaust, NOT the GM by Borla exhaust. Some...

2021 GMC Yukon Denali Oil Burn

What oil weight does the manual specify in Russia? I've heard some car makes sold in different regions get different oil specs despite having the exact same motor. What I'm getting at, is if GM states 0-30 in the Russian manual but 0-20 in the US manual, it's more evidence that 0-20 oil is...

Little vs big V8 2025 Tahoe

Lots of good discussion on towing and MPG differences with the three engine options being shared here. On the other side of that discussion, I went with the 6.2L simply because it hauls butt and is fun to drive.

    6.2l engine tick

There is a passive valve, basically a spring loaded flapper, in the exhaust that opens and closes as the exhaust flow increases and decreases. It's primary if not sole purpose is that it closes, at least partially, when DFM kicks in while cruising and these engines are using less than all 8...

How often do you go WOT aka "Italian tune up"?

@Doubeleive, we could be Tahoe driving metal head friends \m/. I usually have something brutal playing loud while driving too, but I've yet to take a road sign out while doing it, lol. I work the Bose system in my Tahoe out with thrash/black/death metal on the daily.

    Tahoe 2024 GM Exhaust Upgrade

Thanks for the info. So to clarify, you have the GMPP exhaust on your vehicle? Specifically the GMPP and not the GM by Borla exhaust? In addition to the resonance you mention hearing with a luggage rack installed, what is your overall impression of the upgraded GM exhaust?

    Help-2024 Tahoe Stalled

Unfortunately, FPCM failure seems to be relatively common. As mentioned, mine went out at 320 miles, I hadn't even owned the vehicle for a week at the time, so it was new-new. Must have been a defective part from the supplier to go out that early. That was in September, I got it back a day or so...

    Help-2024 Tahoe Stalled

When you say "grinding", do you mean it cranked like it was trying to start while making normal cranking sounds, or was it literally a grindy metal-on-metal sound? If your Tahoe was cranking relatively normal but just not starting, I would put my money on it being the fuel pump control module...

Remote start didnt work this morning and then this....

Good to hear it was not a major issue. Does your CAI use a dry or oiled filter? I have had the CEL come on with prior vehicles when I used an oiled filter, they coat the MAF in oil residue and you need to clean it. If so, you might need to clean the throttle body too, they can also get oily...

How often do you go WOT aka "Italian tune up"?

Do the stock transmission and rear end need upgraded to handle reasonable WOT use from an unmodified engine making stock power, or is that come more into play once people start tuning and adding power? I understand that constantly wailing on any vehicle is going to wear things out faster, but...

What did you do to your 21+ T1XX today?

Looks good. I like the look of red calipers, especially on a black vehicle. My RST is Radiant Red and I'm thinking red calipers might clash on my vehicle with two different shades of red going on, so I've thought about getting them painted black, which would match the black trim and wheels. $200...

How often do you go WOT aka "Italian tune up"?

I was discussing this with a friend recently who was saying these motors, especially the 6.2L, need to be run hard from time-to-time to keep them happy. He's put some high mileage on his trucks and attributes some of that longevity to doing occasional WOT pulls to "clear everything out". He's...

24 Tahoe RST 5.3 cold start noise

I notice that all these engines make extra noise at startup, I hear it in mine, I hear it on other people's Tahoes, and even hear it on videos where people capture cold startup exhaust sound (been researching new exhaust and watching lots of videos), but that video you posted is making an extra...

    Batteries?

I don't know it hot or cold climates are harder on batteries, but living in a hot climate I've been getting an average of 3-4 years out of a battery over the past 15 or so years driving Tahoes. From that experience, if I suspected a battery was going out and it was in that age range, I'd...

    Tahoe 2024 GM Exhaust Upgrade

Studying pictures online it appears the GM performance exhaust by Borla has a resonator before the muffler and no spring-loaded valve, while the GMPP Performance Exhaust (84888291) doesn't have the pre-muffler resonater but has the valve. I'm referring to the spring-loaded valve that's intended...

    21 Yukon Rainsense Wipers

Not my current Tahoe, but the rain sense on my prior 2019 stopped working after a windshield replacement too. I was shopping for my current Tahoe when it happened so just lived with manual wiper control for a few months though. Good to know there's a relatively easy fix if it happens again.

    2024 Yukon Denali Diesel impressions

The transmission complaint stands out to me. I really like the current 10-speed, especially compared to my previous Tahoes that had 4 and 6-speed transmissions. Maybe it's a gas vs diesel thing, or maybe the learning function on your example got wonky, but I think the 10-speeds shift great...

Throttle response controler for 24 Tahoe RST

I'm not familiar with throttle controllers, but I also have a 2024 RST and find putting it in 'Sport Mode' does a decent job improving throttle feel and keeping the transmission in a lower gear for longer. I have the 6.2 version and don't know if Sport Mode differs between the engine options...
