If it was the wheel nut wouldn’t it also allow play in the 12 and 6 position?- Matek

I can definitely try that, but how do I make sure or how can I make sure that that’s what is causing the problem and it’s not something else in the steering column? Could it be something other than this nut?- Matek

I have not. I have no idea where to begin to look for a fix. Are you saying to remove the steering wheel and torque a nut?- Matek

Hey members! I need some help here. Recently I purchased a 08 Chevy avalanche and I’ve noticed that there’s steering wheel play when the vehicle is stationary. Best way I can explain it is that if I hold the steering wheel at 9 and 3 position and push/ pull from side to side there’s movement...- Matek
