The transmission is still working good! I have never had a solid transmission in this truck since I bought it so all I can say is WOO HOO!
Weather permitting it gets smogged and registered this week. Aux trans coolers get connected as soon as I find fittings.
A little radiator repair...I have...
Great news! The new transmission is in! I have taken it out for a couple of test drives and I am happy to say that it is working perfectly. The first drive was a short run just to see that there were no leaks, and it moved. I did a relearn topped the fluid and went for a longer drive the second...
Project update.
The new trans is in, including all fluids for the first run. When I got the torque converter ready, I put about 2 qts in before indexing it to the splines and trans oil pump. This is a one man rodeo, so it was way too many trips down to rub the trucks belly and up to scratch it...
Thank you. The structure is a little complicated near the lower right back attach point for the LCA, so the washer sounds like the best answer. I appreciate you taking the time to post.
I met a previous owner of this truck at a store here in town. He came in and says"Who is driving my truck?" We had a few laughs as he told me stories about flying it off of almost everything on Sawmill Peak. He also told me how the 2 bullet holes, from the inside out, got there. If you have...
I was looking at a couple of other "under construction" threads and noticed comments about ride quality. Many of the remarks were from people with lifted, IFS trucks with cranked torsion bars & similar setups to how I've been running mine over the last several years.
Since I live in a fairly...
Lovelock Inn survived the Camp fire. It was damaged by another fire, but the owners have repaired it and re-opened. Lovelock is about half way from Magalia to Stirling City. The Skyway has been paved past Inskip now, I think to the Y leading to either Butte Meadows or that lake if you take the...
I was surprised when I found out that email address was available, so I took it! I laugh my butt off over that whenever I use it. Maybe I should edit it out.
Ok, thanks. I didn't know. 7-11 is the Paradise Klamper's chapter. I think we are talking about the same bar. Lovelock Inn is the name if I recall. There is a 4 way intersection there like you described. Anyway, I look forward to joining you for a cold one when you are in the area. I'll check...
I taped a stick to the upper radiator hose to keep it out of the fan. Notice the attention to detail, curve of stick is very close to shape of hose! Harbor freight duct tape might be better than dollar hut, but it worked!
Omg, a 7-11! You are probably thinking of the bar in Lovelock. If you can't tip over your truck just come up here and...well, you know!
I'll be away April 9 to 12 but any other time would be great. Ttyl.
Dear friends, this is for anyone that really needs a laugh! After making some repairs a while back, I wanted to take a little test drive. I like to leak check the cooling system before putting coolant in, check for leaks of engine oil or trans fluid, see if it shifts, stops, all that. This was...
The transmission is one with the engine! Time to air up the tires for belly room to mount the exhaust, connect linkages and wiring. It looks like smooth sailing if the weather holds.
Thanks for getting me thinking about the sway bar issue. TOWING! Now that might be a good reason for those. Most of what happens here is go wheel in the woods, go get groceries or go donate money to our Native American friends. I should get something to tow and leave the County once in a while...
I respectfully submit that the problem with this rig is that it has one too many doors on each side! Please continue to comment on my build, as your encouragement has been inspirational! I mean you no disrespect, I enjoy your comments, I am just too emotionally attached to the 2 door Yukon to...
Cheer up! The order for your part has been sent to China! As soon as they have 299,999 more orders it will go to production. Until then you can get it at Autozone. Actually, I do feel your pain. Sorry for the delays.
lol, I live in Magalia, where you go see your"friends" to "borrow" your stolen tools back! It might get into the 60's today. Any day the temp is higher than my age is a good one! Fwiw, the bottle jack is working well. As in, everything is still in the air! The engine/trans mate up is just a few...
I removed the sway bar. Imagine taking the part off and throwing it over your sholder, that is what it looks like now!! If I encounter problems on pavement I will slow down. Off road???, pound the pedal!
Lol, I'm taking a break to go get some grub. My last post said it was going in come hell or high water. The other side of that is God willing and the creek dont rise!
I didn't mention that this is a one operator project. Here is how the ratchet strap and floor jack method looks.
The wrench is...
