    Does a 2024 Z51 with 6.2 require premium fuel?

the slight knocks prior to timing being pulled are not enough to damage the engine; that's what happens, all the time all day long if you were correct, every 6.2 running 87 would be dead on the side of the road; but that isn't the case not sure what your odb challenge is supposed to prove; I'm...

    Does a 2024 Z51 with 6.2 require premium fuel?

nope; that isn't how it plays out (but don't believe me; if it was occurring like you describe we've have piles of 6.2s with holes in pistons) the current gen engines detect / prevent so well; engine longevity isn't impacted

    Does a 2024 Z51 with 6.2 require premium fuel?

the 6.2 absolutely 100% does not REQUIRE 91 octane; it'll adjust timing to prevent engine damage per the owners manual Recommended Fuel (6.2LV8 Engine)Premium unleaded gasoline meeting ASTM specification D4814 with a posted octane rating (R+M)/2 of 91 or greater is recommended. If unavailable...

How many miles are too many for you when you buy used?

In my opinion vehicles take resale hits at a few milestones - when it leaves the lot (1 mile) - when bumper to bumper ends (36k) - when powertrain ends (36k gas or 100k diesel) - when it hits 100k (seems to be a mental thing with folks) On daily drivers; when I've bought used; I've targeted 12k...

How to know if oil has been changed at dealership

from the pics you can see used oil dripping down the filter and on the cross member; those aren't from a leaking filter as the OP would have oil all over his floor and the leak would be covered in road grime the oil was changed based on the replies, i'm surprised someone hasn't suggested the...

    DEF level sensor issue

Regarding the fix question: Per multiple dealers and GM; nothing to fix as it is operating as intended. :) yep, seriously, that's what I've been told. Regarding the; does it go into limp mode question: Yep, it will, it takes a bit in that it will go further then it says it will; but yah, you'll...

not lift, but stretch; any options?

I have an ask to build another tracked tahoe, but the client doesn't want the vehicle lifted (at all). If possible they would like the vehicle lowered but still clear the tracks. On a previous jeep xj I built for tracks I pushed the rear axle back via axle perches. The extension of the rear...

Pickup tube question on 2007 GMC Yukon Denali 6.2

Did you drop the pan or replace the o-ring via taking off the oil pump? If you did the o-ring without dropping the pan how difficult was it to get the bolt out of the pickup tube and then replace it?

ice trip; had some issues (oil pressure / charging)

I'm guessing that I have a pair of issues concerning the oil pressure: 1) low oil pressure of 25psi at idle 2) intermittent oil pressure drop which then comes back to normal I'm thinking I'll do the following: - manual gauge to verify dash is reasonable (I'll probably not see it drop low during...

ice trip; had some issues (oil pressure / charging)

The first battery was fully charged prior to the issue (as well as the swapped battery); additionally they were enough to start the engine. Not sure how bad batteries could start an engine then pull enough off the alternator to indicate below 9 volts then work normally (take a charge, indicate...

ice trip; had some issues (oil pressure / charging)

Service charging system message on dash, volt gauge on dash dropped to 12volt then continued to decline to 9volt (verified via multimeter), dash went dark then the engine quit. Swapped battery; voltage started at 12 then declined to 9 and quit. Used jump pack; engine restarted, voltage was...

ice trip; had some issues (oil pressure / charging)

2008 Tahoe LTZ, 217k on tracks; was up on Lake Winnipeg last weekend. I don't have a lot of time in this rig, bought the Tahoe and installed the lift / tracks right away, maybe 100 miles on it. First issue: Noticed that the oil pressure was staying about 25 psi. Seems to be a candidate for...

Beware: GM Nightmare - Defective 2024 and 2022 Yukon Diesel

totally hear yah We have a ram baby diesel and a gm baby diesel; they both have enjoyed their respective dealer shops more than I'd prefer. (they are battling it out as to who has been in the shop the most, Ram is ahead at the moment but the denali has been gaining momentum) I do enjoy the...

    Buyers Remorse?

it is an absolute bummer to have issues when you buy a different vehicle; totally get it We've had a few denali's / slt's / escalades; across all of them I think I've done 1 water pump and 1 set of magnaride shocks and a pile of tires, never had flat spots occur tho. Wife's '21 denali has loud...

    Battery Replacement a Professional Job?!

The 'professional' part is having to remove a support brace to get the battery out. No special tools, no telling the computer it has a new battery, it's 1/2 a step more difficult then not having the brace in the way. If GM believes this is a 'professional' only operation; I can only imagine how...

    High Rpms in Park

What do you mean by 'started to overheat'? What temp did it get to? Did it push coolant? Does hvac heat work? A wild guess... it's low on coolant and behaving poorly. I believe the '21s have 5/100k powertrain on the diesels.
