2021 Tahoe engine noise - knocking sound

Sorry to hear that. I’ve been there and am still waiting on my replacement to be built. I would definitely recommend reading up on CA’s lemon laws and maybe even having a free consult with a local lemon law attorney to make sure you’re documenting everything the right way and protecting your...

2021 Tahoe engine noise - knocking sound

That is 100% the issue with faulty lifters and pushrods that I dealt with on my 2021 Tahoe Premier last summer. It seemed to be a cold start issue at first. I took it in and was told the same thing, despite having an almost identical video. I suspect they knew what it was but were hedging to...

2021 Denali - lifter replaced now camshaft

This is exactly what I’m worried about with my Tahoe. I had my lifters replaced (both banks) at approximately 7000 miles. Allegedly there was no damage to any other components. Allegedly they inspected with a fiber optic camera, though no evidence of this was ever shown to me. I am particularly...

Anyone Having Repeat Issues With A 2021 Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade After Replacement Of ALL Lifters?

That’s pretty much spot on. No extended warranty secured yet. I have seen that some on here have been offered that. At the moment, though, GM has been ghosting me going on 3 weeks. That’s okay though….the documentation of their non-responsiveness builds….

Anyone Having Repeat Issues With A 2021 Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade After Replacement Of ALL Lifters?

Hi Everyone, I bought a 2021 Tahoe Premier 5.3L in January and started having what was later determined to be lifter issues between 4k-5k miles. I drove with the issue until around 6800 miles, because the dealer failed to identify it earlier (despite me bringing in videos on my phone that were...

    Sold my new tahoe

It’s not a bad engine. The engine has been around for 3 years. It’s a bad batch of lifters. If your build date was within 10/2020 and 3/31/21, you MAY be impacted. Before or after that, GM used different lifters that supposedly don’t fail. Time will tell.

    Sold my new tahoe

No idea what the true incidence is. It happened to me at 7068 miles, but it may only be a bad batch of lifters (and not all manufactured between 10/01/2020 and 3/31/21). The Technical Service Bulletin is PSP5776E. Based on your mileage and how hard you’ve pushed yours already, it seems you may...

    Sold my new tahoe

There is actually a technical bulletin update that now has the service techs replacing both sets of lifters. I had only 2 fail on the same side at 7068 miles, and they replaced both sides no questions. Waiting on my rig to start knocking again, though loving it again in the meantime while it...

2021 Tahoe with 6k miles mine has already had a head off

Unless I’m mistaken, the engines going in the 2021s were redesigned a few years ago (2019). Although there have been some issues with them over the past few years, it hasn’t been anything like this. The sharp rise in powertrain issues among models using that 3-yr-old engine design strongly...

2021 Tahoe with 6k miles mine has already had a head off

That’s nice. All three of the dealers in my area sold all their loaners, so we’re fighting over the one car we still have in my household. The few rentals out there are tiny cars renting for 2-3x’s the amount GM will commit to reimbursing. Most of the car rental places won’t rent without knowing...

2021 Tahoe with 6k miles mine has already had a head off

They’re not going to issue a recall, because as you can see, they don’t have the parts available to fix the vehicles that ARE breaking down, so they definitely don’t have the parts to fix all the vehicles by that were built with faulty lifters proactively. GM is hoping that other buyers won’t...

2021 Tahoe with 6k miles mine has already had a head off

I’m in the same boat with the issues on my 2021 Tahoe Premier 5.3L. Lots of posts about damage to other components (bushings/pistons/camshaft) from the bent lifters/pushrods, but my service adviser hasn’t said whether they’re willing to take a deep enough look inside the engine. My confidence...

2021 Tahoe 5.3 engine failure at 4,800 miles

Yep, same issues with my 2021 Tahoe Premier 5.3L. GM just confirmed that it was the lifters. They have ordered a new set for both sides (because they know that replacing one lifter or side is not going to work). However, I’m pretty concerned about the integrity of the rest of my engine. I had my...
