Sorry bout that. As soon as I got everything put back together it was loud and very low oil pressure. Took off the heads again and checked the torque looked everything over and put it back together. Still super loud and low oil psi. Proceeded to remove oil pan to see if the pickup tube was loose...- 05z71luke

The gauge used to read the oil pressure was in place of the oil filter and the truck isn’t quiet. It’s got a loud ticking- 05z71luke

So here’s the latest… lifters we’re soaked. Everything was torqued by the book. Fired it up still had some noise, I’m thinking because the oil press isn’t what it should be. Ended up taking to a reputable mechanic. They replaced the oil pump and did the sprockets and timing chain at my request...- 05z71luke

i didn't do the cam. I'm not a seasoned mechanic. Brother in law is the mechanic, and i think he was just trying to knock it out as quickly as possible. Right now i'm more concerned with the oil pressure being low- 05z71luke

gaskets were FELPRO from Napa auto for the specified vehicle. They looked about the same thickness but honestly can't say. Lifters were ACDelco that my brother in law purchased. Head bolts were replaced and with the correct torques. the only new parts were the head gaskets, head bolts, lifters...- 05z71luke

I recently did a lifter job on my 5.3 @197000mi. the only issue before replacement was the infamous lifter tick. After replacing the lifters, and torqueing to specs in Haynes manual, upon start up still sounds like a small diesel engine, and the oil pressure has dropped to around 5-10. used to...- 05z71luke
