Greets to all from a fresh overseas owner of '01 Tahoe. Sorry if this has been questioned many times but I could not find the ultimate answer, so I rather ask before I buy...

I have currently a factory cassette player (auto tone type) with external CD adapter mounted in the console. I'd like to ask if I can simply replace this system with 01' OEM CD player like this one:

Or do I need to re-program the new unit somehow to fit my vehicle?

Or buy an aftermarket unit that is leagues better, but to answer your question, yes it will work, no it will not need to be programmed in an 01. Just make sure the theftlock was disabled or you have the code. Factory anything is good for a paper weight and thats about it in my opinion.

Thanks for the positive answer. I don't want The aftermarket one, because it attracts junkies and thrash :/ and I like the stock appearance :)

I have an aftermarket unit and was going to slap stock unit back in when I decide to sell. I have no code for it does that mean I cant use it again?

If theftlock was activated it will not turn on once plugged back in until the 4-digit code is entered.

Look on the radio= When I remove one I write the code on it with a sharpie. Buy a lottery ticket.

If you can't figure out the code there's yt videos showing you how to get it--OR--How to pull the chip out to make the radio work.
