Hello,

I just bought an 02 Tahoe over the weekend, and I just noticed the headlights with the interior gauge lights stay on all the time.
The light next to the turn signal light is the Day Time Running lights right? isnt these suppose to stay on during the day, and then switch off at night? when they switch off, doesnt the regular headlights and guages turn on at night??
could it be the light sensor on the dash? if so, how can i check if its working? or is there a way to maybe switch it back to have the running lights working during the day (the lights next to the turn signal)?

Hope someone can enlighten me on this, cause i dont have a clue.

thanks all,

Ralphy

The gauge lights do stay on all the the time, regardless of whether the headlights or DRL's are on. Have you visually verified your headlights are on during the day, or are you assuming they are because the dash lights stay on?

If they do stay on, clean the light sensor and test it. You can cover it up and/or shine light on it. It could be the sensor. Could also be the previous owner modded the wiring purposely to keep them on.

Good luck!

the headlighs stay on all the time.
I just replaced the sensor, and now the headlights dont stay on, but now both running lights dont turn on. maybe bad bulbs? the springs inside the bulbs look good.
going to replace the bulbs and see what happens.

Sounds like a bulb thing...but the electronics on these things are notoriously a pain. What seems simple enough often isn't.

Great! It's always nice when a light not working is just because you need new bulbs...lol. I've got HID's, and if something goes wrong I have to trouble shoot a bit...connections, fuses, ballasts, bulbs...which one is it? I still love them, it's just more work to diagnose problems.

Glad you got it figured out and working.
