Came across the above truck by accident and my mind is messing with me.

Other than some burn oil (which can be remedied so I read with 0w40 oil and Lucas oil stabilizers) and it likes fuel (like all bowtie/gmc suvs) and regular maintenance on the drivetrain, are there any specific items that need to be checked?

Its a good deal @ 179k mi and I can pick it up for less than $9k. I know that GM changed the electrical system starting in 03-06 and that it was much improved over the 00-02yrs.

The burb is all original, autoride works and per the owner, engine was completely serviced @ 150k. Has new tires and a leveling kit less than 5kmi. Burb has every option imaginable minus the 4.10 rear end.

I'm going to look at it next week. I luv my old hoe but did not tow my 5k 23' boat very well. It handled the weight fine but getting going and staying at hwy speeds sucked. The 3.42 rear end combined with no tow/haul transmission doest do the hoe justice. My other 99hoe with the 3.73 rear end towed much better than this hoe but I was just spoiled with the 5.3l and tow/haul tranny in my 07 burb.

The hoe can stay the daily driver as I have a gas card for work and so mpg doesn't matter to me in either my daily driver or my toy hauler.

What do y'all think?

When I was shopping for mine I noticed that almost every 2500 I saw for sale had the 8.1. If I'd been able to find one with the 6.0 I would have gone for it but 8.1 is way overkill for me.

I'm guessing that it is for most people and that's why, oddly enough, 8.1's seem to go for less on the market than 6.0's.

I actually passed on a 2500 with 120k on it for $7900 because it had the 8.1. And it was even in my favorite color (dark green.)

8.1L are just less economical and can have oil consumption problems. I'd purchase solely on condition and if it had an 8.1L all the better.

Id love to have an 8.1. Just so I wouldn't have go,to a with my denali because the 8.1 would pull better. Lol. Other than that the 8.1 is overkill. But still they are very few and far between when one goes up for sale at least here in California. I didn't see any in my searches when I was looking for my yukon XL.
