'03 Denali Xl Transmission Problems

Hi, I have an '03 Denali XL with 300,000kms and am having some transmission problems. It will shift from 1-2, but is difficult to get into 3 and 4. I can get it into 3 if I let off at the gas at just the right time. 4 is even more difficult. When it tries to go into 3rd or 4th gear it is almost like it is in neutral. My check engine light has not come on, so there are no codes. I also have reverse. From what I have read this means that it is not in "limp mode" because I still have 2nd gear. I have tested it by driving it with the shifter in 3rd and when I am just about to go into 3rd gear, drop the shifter into second. So without a code I don't know where to look. Is it possible that it is a shift solenoid, or a transmission control solenoid? Any of these should give me check engine light, should they not? Or is most likely one of the bands and is that something that I can repair myself or does it need to be rebuilt? I cannot find anyone out there who has had a similar problem, losing both 3rd and 4th. Any ideas or suggestions would be great.

Sounds like a 3/4 clutch pack failure. Very common for these transmissions. Its time for a rebuild.
