Hey everone, ran into a problem yesterday not sure where to start...2003 tahoe z71 95k miles daily driver excellent condition overall....was leaving store and accelerating when it just fell on its face pulled on a side road stopped tried to accelerate and it would take off then it would just bog down did this several times when I pulled in the driveway I smelled my brakes they were discolored and overheated the front brake pads are about 15 months old about 20 k on them have had no indication of any problems before this other than an odd clicking noise under the dash one evening when i applied my brake pedal while sitting in my drive a week before and that was the first and last time I had heard that ...it has not happened again and seems to be ok for the time was gonna replace rotors and pads but i don't know that it won't happen again or if i should be looking at something else along with pads and rotors? Thanks for any help you can offe

sounds like it could be a siezed calliper. Do you live in an area where you have harsh winters and the roads are salt treated? If so, corroded callipers is usually the number one cause of sticking and seizing. Also, your calliper pins may have not been checked for lubrication when the brakes were changed. If the pins have no lube, the calliper will stick.

I live east of Kansas city Missouri very mild winter this year but yes it has been exposed to salt and I keep it clean since posting it had not happened again until today I'm getting ready to replace Rotors and pads lube the calipers? And replace brake hoses its happening to just the front brakes and its random at best I'm stumped I don't want to replace the Rotors and pads and have it happen again but I also don't want to needlessly replace parts when not needed I would feel a lot better if the damn things just stuck all the time and gave me a definite clue as to what's going on ...from my understanding if the inside shoe is worn significantly more than the outside it is a hydraulic issue if the outside is worn more its mechanical if worn evenly I need to look at master cylinder or abs....does this sound correct to anyone?? Thanks again guys

If you have 17" rims, then replace the calipers with the 07+ ones and 13" rotors. It will really improve your braking capacity and get rid of that spongy feel.
