03 tahoe brake problem....

Hey everone,ran into a problem yesterday not sure where to start...2003 tahoe z71 95k miles daily driver excellent condition overall....was leaving store and accelerating when it just fell on its face pulled on a side road stopped tried to accelerate and it would take off then it would just bog down did this several times when I pulled in the driveway I smelled my brakes they were discolored and overheated the front brake pads are about 15 months old about 20 k on them have had no indication of any problems before this other than an odd clicking noise under the dash one evening when i applied my brake pedal while sitting in my drive a week before and that was the first and last time I had heard that ...it has not happened again and seems to be ok for the time was gonna replace rigors and pads but i don't know that it won't happen again or if i should be looking at something else along with pads and rigors? Thanks for any help you can offer
