03 Tahoe rattling noise

I have a 03 Tahoe with 247000 miles on it. I hear a rattling noise underneath the truck in the middle. Not the converter just had that replaced a year ago. Took it to a shop and they said it needs a new transfer case that the chain is slapping around. The noise happens when you take off and then you can’t hear it anymore. Has anyone had this problem before?

if the bearings are fine, and shift fork pads are fine I would just replace the chain, but I would inspect before throwing that kind of money around.

Is there a way you can replicate the noise with it on jack stands?
