I am new to this type of sight!

I have a 03 z71 Tahoe with a Bose system that works fine but no nav system. So I bought a GM nav stereo that is a "04 GMT800 part number 15204335 Bose nav stereo off ebay. I was told this unit was compatible with 03-06 Tahoe's with existing Bose systems.
installed it and we took it to the dealer and they unlocked it.
It turns on but you can only hear a faint sound along with a buzzing sound. The volume controls will not function. the other buttons on the unit don't seem to do anything except the tuner can be adjusted. You can only change the station on the steering wheel and the unit itself. None of the other buttons seem to work either. I have no tried the nav yet. I don't have the Manuel either.
The dealer is not sure what the deal is. The teck 2 said the deck was not communicating? Could it be that my existing amp is not compatible?
I reinstalled my original 6 cd disc changer Bose unit and all works fine.

You got a bad radio bro. I know this all too well and I hope the person(s) you bought it from are honest and will take care of you.

Escalades and Denali's got a specific type of NAV radio, paired up with a speicifc amp. They are referred to as a lux Nav and lux amp.

Tahoes, Suburbans, and (some) Hummers got a non-lux Nav and non-lux amp.

Your new radio should be a lux version, so you need to pair it with the proper lux amp. You can always find them on ebay. And you will also have to do a but of re-wiring.

Or you can sell your new NAV unit, and find the proper non-lux unit. This, after clearing the VIN theftlock, will be the easy plug-n-play method that you were expecting.
