Hello from seattle/tacoma washington

I just purchased a 2004 gmc yukon denali xl and am new to the whole tuning of them. I have owned a 1988 bmw 325is with e30m3 suspension and also a 1997 infiniti q45 slammed to the ground on coilovers. I also have a 1993 toyota 4runner on a streetable 33's that my wife use to daily drive but the lift hurts her hip and it isn't easy to get the car seat out.

We stepped up to this yukon denali in hopes it can give me comfort on my families safety and give us new adventures.

I was a bit hesitant about the gas mileage the 6.0l awd would get and I will probably look to do some modifications to help the situation.

Is Black Bear performance really that good? Can they offer me help in mpg?

Any advice would help.

I am also going back to stock wheels, these 22" I am not feeling.

Fuel economy wise there is not much you can really do. Its AWD and a 6.0 lol It's a suck it up kinda thing. That being said it ill last you forever. I had 167k on my original wheel bearings (hub assembly) lol I would recommend a cold air intake of your choice, a nice cat back exhaust, and a tune if you wanna spend the coin. Thats about as good as it gets. You could always go to the denali 17's and save yourself some rotating mass. There than that play nice with the skinny pedal.

I avergade about 13.7 over the time I had my 05 XL and that was about 40/60 city/highway. I got 17.7 once on a trip to Tennessee with just a specter cold air intake and everything else stock. Not bad. 6.0 have never been good on fuel though lol

No kidding .... but every little bit counts I guess. I might pickup k&n system but im not sure after looking at some comparison threads.

I just picked up some stock denali 17in for $150 but I need tires for them. I now just have to get my ish together with this SUV on what I want to do with her.

Haven't heard a ton of good things about K and N filters. I loved my specter for the cost, and it sounded much better too.

the stock 17's will help some, and they will look better.

If your gonna do one, just get the air raid JR kit and be done.

I built my own Air raid tube from pvc. not great but does flow better than stock. also did a muffler, efan swap and a BB tune. If I could keep my foot out of it I could get better MPG, but after the mods it drives so much better. much more enjoyable so I end up getting on it more. however I get about the same mileage and drive harder so if I could drive like a grandma again Im sure my MPG would be better.

Waiting to take a roadtrip to see how it does

Don't use a k&n filter. The oiled filter dirtied my maf sensor.

And I second the air raid kit. Tube cleans up the engine compartment and the filter is a dry filter I believe.

I agree on not doing a k&n, every time we hauled our trailer and I had to get on the throttle I'd get a check engine light. It was the oil from the filter getting on the MAF sensor. Easy to clean but a hassle anytime you'd get on the gas.
