So i am in the process of converting the dash etc to Red LED lights.
I just completed the converson on the Steering wheel, for the second time White is to bright, and all tested fine until i went to put the top left unit in for the final time. Then i notices that all the lights on the wheel no longer work. :banghead:

All the controls still work. and all the lights worked during testing. ( just pulled the pig tails out of the wheel hub to test)

Is there a fuse for the steering wheel lights? or a fusable link?

thanks.

OK so i kept digging and worked with a GM tech. Here is what i found.
Under the dash is a small 2am fuse.
On my truck it is on the brown/white wire comming out from the wheel harness. It was in a heatshrink/plastic housing labled ES-1. Mine was not an replacable item so i cut it out and ran a jumper to confirm i got the correct wire and presto wheel lights.
So tomorrow i have to dig up a 2amp fuse and holder and splice the line back together.

Hope this helps anyone else with this issue.

I've the same issue on my 2004, but simply can't find the inline fuse. I've removed the lower and upper dash trim and see the wiring, but no brown/white wire in the bunch.

Here are a couple of pictures showing the wires from the steering wheel and the main connector on the column. Could you approximate the location of the fuse you replaced please?

Thanks in advance!

it was about 6 inches from the connector under the dash.( 1/2 way between wheel mount and connector. I had to unwrap all the electric tape to find the fuse.

The wire for my 2006 fuse goes into the large connector under the dash. it has 18-24 rwires going into it.

hope this helps.
