Thanks in advance.
My 2nd post more desperate than 1st
2006 Yukon Denali 173,000
Drove out of my driveway to corner(500feet), made left turn, no prob, made 2nd left (200feet)and felt truck not going into gear(sort of like slipping tranny but not really, more like slipped tranny).was going down a slight incline and wasnt getting much of a response, still rolling but little/no acceleration, made uturn(very little power to wheels) and truck wouldnt move up incline, rolled back. i didnt gun it(been babying truck for about 70,000miles) tried all R,D,1,2,3. turned off, tried again no movement. Small amout of fluid beneath truck, checked trans fliud looked ok, have had a small front axle seal leak, check front dif fluid about week ago, added small amount. no noises, no tranny slipping prior to this sudden problem, walked back,no puddle in driveway. Engine was running and sounded normal, no warning
would no front dif fliud cause this with no warning(noises)? wouldnt everything still move and grind? transfer case? tranny? had tranny rebuilt about 4 years ago, no probs since

Felt fine til i tried to accelerate while turning, going to walk back try to add dif fluid hope i can get back to house(2 blocks away) 11 1/2 years and 173,000 miles, i might be done

Could've been several things. The main things it could be based on the information provided is your sun shell spline broke away from the sun shell which if this happens you won't be able to move in any gear. If it was the 3-4 clutch pack you would still have 1-2. The only other thing I can think of is your pump went out or your servos. Let me know what you find. Maybe pull the pan and see if you can see fine metal in the pan. Never mind the metal from the magnet unless you can see larger chunks of metal

Just curious? Put the truck in drive and then look under the truck and see if the driveshaft is spinning. If it is then it's your differential. Be careful doing this cause it could catch a gear tooth and then if you're under it it will run over you. Either look underneath from a distance or jack up both rear tires and then put it in gear.

Thank Maximus, got it towed back, jacked it up, put it in gear and all four wheels were spinning in drive, nothing in reverse(didnt give it any gas). its AWD Denali
do believe if i dropped it down (which ill do tomorrow) it'll not have power enough to move truck.
a little more info, earlier before i called for tow, i added rear dif fluid (didnt take much), started and put in gear, truck moved slowly about 5 feet, almost like being pushed, loses ump and started to roll backwards (was on an incline). im not giving it a lot of gas, but theres nothing there, even when i shift it its like nothing happens, no feel between gears on shifter or brake pedal.
also tried turning off stabiltrak, no difference

Very grateful for your input

Yeah it sounds like it's your transmission. If it's AWD I highly doubt that both differentials went out and if one went out the other should still be able to move the truck almost like normal. If it was mine, my next step would be to drop the transmission pan and look for small metal slivers. Maybe take a magnet and see if you pick up any metal at all. Also look at the color of the fluid and if it's brown it's bad. I'm not sure of your mechanical ability but if you find any of these problems I would be removing the Transmission and taking it to a transmission shop and swap it for a rebuilt one with a warranty. If you don't have the ability to do it yourself I would suggest having it towed to a transmission shop and get ready to spend at a minimum of $1,500 for a complete swap. Typically if you remove and install the transmission on your own the cost would usually be cut in half

You might also try and see if it's the pump. One way to test this is to remove one of the transmission lines. The easiest way to do this is to pull the line connected to the transmission oil cooler it's in front of the condenser behind the grille. Then place something underneath to catch the fluid if the pump is working. Whether it's the pump, sun shell or both clutch packs (1-2/3-4) your going to have to remove the transmission. Also when you get the transmission rebuilt make sure you get the upgraded parts. These are a hardened sun shell, corvette servos (these have a higher pressure) and some performance clutches. Even if you are not trying to add any more horsepower these parts (if assembled correctly) will make your transmission last a whole lot longer and will help with towing

just spen a few minutes looking at truck. havent checked pump yet but driveshaft not spinning freely so i guess diff is not the prob, if i give it a little more gas i can get moving a little(drive shaft and truck), dont hear much except for a little swishing liquid sound. feels like it builds a little pressure then moves and loses pressure and wants to roll back.
got quote for a Jasper tranny from local shop $3000-$3300, didnt give VIN for a exact #, said thats what he'd put in..........not sure its worth it, work and weather against me its going to wait

$3,000 seems a little on the high side. What part of the country are you from? I would shop around a little. Being that it's AWD might increase it a little more but not much. For instance I have a guy here in Oklahoma that can build me a performance transmission with all the upgrades for $816. Now granted that's with me removing it and then installing it. But even so I would think for the complete install it would only be a $1,000 more

Im in New Jersey, had it done for $2000 5 years ago in NY. i figured the shop I called was using a more expensive tranny, Jasper I believe he said. IM not moving on it yet...sure i can get it cheaper, i prob could remove myself, but in the driveway on jack stands might not be best use of my time

I ran a Jasper class 1 Trans in my truck for about 60k miles. I had them install a shift kit and all when it was built and they shipped it with a big b&m cooler. Cost me about $3k out the door. It came with a 3yr unlimited mileage warranty and a lot of other things like breakdown assistance with hotels and all that. It held up well to my tuned 5.3 with no torque management and only had a 1-2 servo go bad. It was not happy behind my cammed 6ltr and something let go. Funny thing is my breakdown symptoms were similar to yours currently. Felt like reverse and 3rd gear engaged at the same time..wasn't driving it hard..almost like a pump went out or something.
