Looking to buy a 07-10 unit for the woman. I have a 2010 Silverado and have had no issues with it but I turned the AFM off at 20k miles. Has anyone seen issues with these models at the 100k mile range that have never had AFM turned off, and at that point is disabling it still a good practice? I love the reliability of these vehicles but that's one thing that spooks me a little.

Mine is a 2010 with 108k miles, AFM still on. Doesn't seem to burn oil or have an other ill effects. I do notice that it rarely ever actually goes into V4 mode.
Mine was an 07 over 120,000 without turning it off. There are others over 150,000 without theirs turned off.

AFM (in this sense) is referring to the troublesome Active Fuel Management system.
To contribute, I have an '08 with almost 150K, but I've only put about 3K on it since buying it. There appears to be no problems with or from the AFM, but I'll still have it disabled in a custom tune. I installed a catch can within days of buying this truck, and drained maybe 1.5 oz of oil from it at 1500 miles. I do not know if there has ever been any major engine work/replacement in it's history.
