Hey guys
Im having an issue with my denali. I was driving the other night to the store and all of a sudden the dash lights started flickering really bad. So i pulled over and left the truck running, once i reved up the engine all the lights started flickering. Headlights were flashing on and off, door locks going crazy. The heater shut off and the ac came on. All the gauges would drop to nothing then come back on like i shut the ignition off. I tried limping it back home but then it would barely shift. This happen once before and the dealer replaced the battery. Its intermitten. Has anyone had this issue at all? Sounds like a BCM problem but who knows. Dealer is telling me that they might need there factory engineer to come out and look at it. I dont have any aftermarket stereo stuff in it. I was actually able to video it on my phone and show the dealer. Once i pulled it back in the garage and shut it off, it was dead. No crank no start.

thanks for all your help

When it starts acting up, you might want to check and see what kind of voltage the alternator is putting out....don't go by what the gauge on the dash says, but rather get a meter and check it under the hood. Under and over charging can cause some weird issues, its a least a good starting point.

Ok thanks, I'll see what dealer says. If they don't find anything I'll try that next time it happens.

That is right... My car had the same exact meltdown when my alternator took a crap (putting out 8 volts!!!)

Anyway, new alternator, new battery... all is good...

A lot of people on here swear by the red tops. I personally dont have the experience with them, but we run Deka batteries in all of our heavy machinery at work, and therefore, also in our trucks... I have never seen any problems with the Deka ultimate and the intimidator lines...

As for the alternator... I would recommend a GM part. Not from your local stealer... but the one I got from NAPA originally was putting out 15.8-16 AMPS out of the box!! I could have ruined a lot of things in my truck had I not had the benefit of an alternator test bench in our shop at work...

if your looking to have it covered under warranty, and you cant make the problem occur in front of their eyes... they prob wont do anything for it...

My dealer also said nothing was wrong... autozone's free battery checker saw that my alternator was only putting out 8 volts... confirmed by my DMM at home...

Hey thanks alot for your help, they called me this morning and told me that one of the battery cables was not secure. I checked those before i even sent the vehicle in and everything was tight. They replaced the battery during last visit for the same concern. So i doubt that was the issue
