I am getting all kinds of confused now.

I was under the Impression that my

99 Chevy Tahoe 4DR, 2WD was a 3/4 ton truck....

So is it or isnt it?

If its not, can I simply change out the leaf springs and coils and make it so? I already have HD Bilstien shocks on the front end.

The Tahoe is a 1/2 ton vehicle with some "heavy" parts... As retorq stated, "it's more to it than just springs and shocks".

The reason for my complaining is, I had read somewhere that it is 3/4 ton... Or perhaps I got that impression from the cargo area weight... Not sure... Tired going to bed..

I appreciate the help so far guys.

Yu need to rock 8 lugs to be 3/4 ton o up. A axle swap would put you up there but it's not a easy piece of cake. I wanna do them to mine and rock the 3/4 ton law on seat belts. Over here you don need em if on 3/4 to. Or above

No, there is more to it then springs and shocks.

yup, IIRC the 3/4ton 350s had 4 bolt main bearings, 4l80e, different transfer case, bigger brakes, 8 lug hubs, bigger axles, thicker frame, bigger torsion bars, rear leafs, and some other stuff.

Most importantly it has the sticker on the door with a higher gvwr. Legally it's still a 1/2ton no matter what you throw at it to make it a 3/4+.

Ok, so in short. I have 5 lugs, so I in fact have a half ton truck. So, I can't put 1500 lbs in it? Total weight, people ect...

You can but your 2wd so your leafs are not as strong as the 6 lug 4x4. You will sag most likely

Evenly distributed or all in the rear cargo area behind the axle? If the springs are good you'll be OK, you'll only feel a power decrease.
