Is it possible to program 1 key fob to work on 2 different vehicles? My wife and I have a 2007 Tahoe and a 2011 Avy that we swap around depending on what we have going on that day. I would like to be able to have 1 key and 1 fob for both cars. I'm pretty sure I can have the locks/ignition rekeyed so that they are the same, but I don't know about the fobs.

Thoughts/Suggestions?

Easiest way to do it is to take the 2011 remotes and program them into the 2007, since the 2007 can be programmed through the DIC.

I've thought about doing the same thing so I can get one remote off my keychain....the only downside is both cars will lock and unlock when they are in the garage...and both cars will remote start when parked next to each other....

Thanks, I'll try that tonight, when the wife gets home, and see what happens.

I hadn't thought about the remote start working on both of them....

I did that for a while to trim down the # of fobs in my pocket, but it got old remembering to hit the lock button before I drove off (so the vehicle I didn't drive that day didn't sit in the driveway unlocked all day).

The onstar app only works on 2010 and later (either 2010 or 2011 IIRC).

Ok, so I tried this and it works pretty good! The only "issue" is that the Avy fob doesn't have the buttons for the back glass or gate, but that's not a big deal. I did call the dealership and they wanted $45 to program the Tahoe fobs to the Avy!! That's crazy to pay that much for something I can do for free in 5 mins on the Tahoe!!

I'm going to leave them like this for a little while and see how I like it. I already like the reduction in bulk in my pocket. Now I have to research the cost of rekeying the locks.
