I have a 97 and a 2005 .... My 05 has a wire in the trailer wire bundle that goes to the battery, I Believe for brakes... I can't find the same wire in the 97 which I need for some lighting.... Don't really want to run a wire all the way forward but I am concerned that adding a 55w back up light to the existing factory circuit (20a fuse) will be to much of a load... Thoughts??

our trucks didn't come prewired for 7 pin trailer plugs... when i hooked up my 7pin i had to run all of the wires... i would just run yourself a wire from the fuse panel in the engine bay... loom it and secure it under the truck..

heres the write up on the 7 pin trailer plug to give you an idea of what to do..

good luck... personally i wouldn't use the connectors that come in the kit... go to a boat store like West Marine and get the marine grade heat-shrink connectors...

Mark you may have the wiring in place. If I give you a wiring chart can you do some looking on you vehicle to find them? I have not seen one Tahoe that was not equipped with them yet when searching for them.
