Just to make certain before i go back and pull this 14 bolt for my truck

any 14 bolt 6 lug rear end from an 88-98 chevy 2500 will swap right in correct? the one i found is on an 89 2500 and its all there, drums and all.

It will have to be regeared to match my front 4.88's, needs a good clean up and paint, problably a good brake job.

Also is it possible to drop in a 5 speed out of a 2500 as well? (probably won't do it)

it should be fine if it is a 4x4. All you need is the "U" joint adapter. To be safe measure the spring perch centers and so on.

I want a write up on changing diffs gears out, and how to measure backlash, if you could snap some quick pics when you do it. My rear gears are fscked up, and I need to replace them. I was going to replace the gov lock bomb also, but I don't even know where to start, other than everyone on the internet saying don't do it...

If it helps, the factory code is F44. And all you need is stated above. It needs to be a 4wd and all you need is a u joint conversion. Everything should be a direct swap in.

It is a 4wd, and does anyone have a link to the adapter?

got the price for the rim warranty/swap and it was about double what i thought it was going to be. if the rear end is still up there in a couple weeks ima pick it up along with my new rims. (got my fingers crossed)
