Ok so I just sold my 01 Denali XL and got a 2003 Tahoe LT. Problem is with the 3rd row my system won't fit and I am not planning on removing my 3rd row because i sometimes need it for family trips.

Now, I really want to reach 150db but will be happy with 140db. My problem is that I have no idea what subs to get to be loud and still have some SQ with my minimal amount of space. I have about $1000-$2000 to spend on subs/amps/box. I was thinking of going sealed because of the space but I know its very hard to hit 150DB when going sealed. I knew a guy that had 2 12s facing down and he was able to get loud but i cant seem to find anybody else with a similar set up to show me pics of boxes and what they're hitting. I am mainly considering soundsplinter, image dynamics, fi, re, etc...

Please let me know what u guys think or recommend. Pics would be awesome if you have a 3rd row with subs

Thanks in advance

150 db is going to be exreamly hard with the space you have and with your budget. if you look at some of my recent post i have my setup 2 memphis mojo qvc 15's and 2 mojo 2500d's and mine hit 148-150 (i dont have a third row though so space wasnt an issue). $2000 woudn't even get the 2 amps :/. That being said you can still get a very solid system that sounds nice in that budget. I would suggest memphis c3 10's or 12's, but i am biased on sub choice lol. Good luck on whatever you decided to do!!!!!

look into doing a 15. they can get down and most only take about 4-5 cubes, and you could do one and an amp within your budget, check out DCsoundlab.com, orion, or google obsidian audio, they are made by jacob fuller the owner of sundown, but there is so many companies its up to you, good luck getting to 150 though

I know what I'm asking is pretty tough to accomplish lol but hitting 150 has always been something i wanted to do. I would be happy hitting 140db though since i have limited space. Any recommendations on what i can fit behind the 3rd row and hit 140db? I dont like 15" subs for some reason and would prefer to stick to 12s. I was also thinking sealed because I care about SQ and have such limited space behind the 3rd row. I guess pretty much what I'm asking is whats the "best" SQL system that will work with my budget/space... I know using the word best is pretty generic but i think u guys know what i mean

2 memphis c3 12's would probably fit behind your third row. They would probably be about $300 each. You could run a memphis MC1.1500 d amplifier ($800) or you could go a little cheaper and get a power referece 1000 d ($500). The MC amplifier would be the better option b/c it sounds better and you would have a little more power so the amp wouldn't work as hard but since your on a budget sometimes you have to sacrifice. Finally a prefab box would run around 150 bucks but i'd suggest getting a custom box b/c you can get a little more out of it sound wise, but they are a little more expensive. That setup may not hit 140, but it would be pretty close to it and it would be a pretty good sq setup. Granted you could go rockford or jl, but you would pay a lot more for a little better quality. Personally Memphis Car Audio makes the best products dollar for dollar IMO.

I just picked up 2 Hifonics HFI2000D amps (2000 watts RMS @ 1 ohm, 1300 watts RMS @ 2 ohms) I'm def going to get a custom box done but need help deciding on the subs still. I'm looking to run one amp to each sub so either 1300 watts or 2000 watts RMS per sub depending on impedence. What other subs do you recommend? Also, down firing subs or forward firing? Anybody else have a set-up with a 3rd row?

I dont know much about subs but for a box you should definitely fiberglass your own box so you can get the most out of the space you have. Not a hard thing to do just time consuming. Itd cost a hell of a lot less too and thatll give you more funds towards your subs.

well i know you said you didnt like 15's but the memphis mojo 15 handles 1750 rms and its about $550 per sub. any JL or Rockford sub in that rms range will run you 1000+. sundown audio makes good subs also if you want to check them out. my setup has subs facing up and port out the back

Fiberglass is something I wanted but since I dont know how to do it then I would end up spending more to get it done. There's a few places in the area here that can make some pretty nice boxes but I can't get a box mad til I decide on the subs... still don't know if its better to have down firing, front firing or rear firing either
