I am new to this forum but have found many useful tips in the past here. Thanks for that. My '96 Tahoe, 4WD, 4DR, LT model has been leaking oil from the pan seal for a few weeks. Just enough oil to be annoying. I've read a few posts describing the process of replacing the pan gasket and plan on doing that job soon. My question is this; aside from the oil pan gasket (I'm going with a felpro replacement and the stock pan) is there anything else I should re-gasket or replace while I have the oil pan off? Considering the undertaking to replace the pan gasket, I don't want to have to do that job more than once. My Tahoe has 211k miles on her. Thanks.

it has been since I have been around a Vortec since I have the LS Swapped in. My recommendation is to throw a lite coat of RTV as a safety net. I would recommend pulling the oil screen out and cleaning that thoroughly and possibely replacing the oil pump.

A gaskets kit from felpro will also have gaskets for the filter mounting adapter as well since the pan work involve work with the cooler lines do it all. And if you have reached the 150k miles on the odometer set yourself up with a high volume oil pump now. And it will give you good flow and pressure for the rest of engine block life.

On My 1997 Tahoe 5.7 I Had To Drop The Front Differential and The Left Side of The Y Pipe, Bell Housing, Etc. I Put RTV Ultra Black On The Pan Side of the Gasket. Apply Extra on Top Of The Oil Pan Gasket Around The Front and Back And Corners.

You've probably handled the task originally posted...
I had a leak around my harmonic balancer/crank seal... when I replaced my timing cover, I had to replace the oil pan gasket - they were RTV'd together. Just something to consider for the next time or for any future readers.
