Hi all, I have a 1997 Check Tahoe and the heater blower stopped working yesterday. It has on occasion made noises or gone out but a swift kick to the round shaped housing under the glove box always caused to work properly again. However, last night that "remedy" did not work. I've read on this forum that it may be a resistor but I haven't read anywhere that people have had a similar issue with the blower motor working intermittently like mine. So, should I change out the motor resistor or is there something else I should do?

Thanks for any help. It would be greatly appreciated.

so no matter what speed you select the motor itself randomly just does not work? since it has failed disconnect the motor terminals and measure voltage for each setting. and dont replace parts unless diagnosis dictates it.

then volt probe the motor power feed wires in different speed settings while key is in accessory position. and ohm test the motor terminals too.

Will do. Thanks for the guidance.

I'm curious as to how I can remove the actual cover to the blower motor. Any instructions on how to do this? I've searched youtube and google but haven't found anything. I know at this point I may not need to do that but I would like to take a look at the blower wheel.

I'm pretty sure the whole dash needs to come out in order to really get to the blower. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.. Something has been making some noise on my yukon, thinking maybe it's the air diverter. According to the service manual I have to take out the dash to get to it. Sucks because I just did to change out the pass airbag. Good luck!
