Ok, I got a 1998 2 door 5.7 vortec. I love it to death. It was 2 in 1 out. I cut off the muffler from the inlet all the way to the tail pipe. And there completely gone. All I have is the stock cats. It is loud, deep, and sexy. Is that bad for the engine? I do not hotdogg it. I let it warm up for 10 minutes in the moring before work. I just drive it reguraly. I wanna know will cutting off all the pipes from the inlet back hurt anything?? Cause I wanna know from others who have done this. Please get back to me ASAP.

you should be fairly fine but unless you are in freezing weather and it is to cold to sit in at first, letting it warm up for 10 minutes is a waste. just get in and floor it already.

Well I'm not really in like ice cold weather, its like 30-40degrees right now. I just wanted to know if there was anything wrong with it or not. But it's good to know that what i did wont hurt me :D

I was scared. cause now im having engine trouble. the temp goes up everytime i give it gas. Adn down when i take my foot off. And there was alot of water in the with oil. A mechanic said its prob the Intake gasket, Which cost to fix with parts and all. 450. And if its the head gasket, 1300$ .. That seems a bit much..

You are loosing MPG from the FEG(foot to ear to gas pedal) interface. Your ears now hear the cool exhaust and it makes your foot push on the gas more and rev engine higher than you used to do. Nothing wrong with the truck, just the FEG. Put quiet muffler back on and watch teh results go the other way. Shoot, same thing happened to me on my Harley with the TEG(throttle, ear, loud a_sed muffler) interface.

You can reduce your backpressure a bit with out issues. As long as you have not cut out your cats you should be fine but don't do more tthat that unless you can get engine tuning done. As you alter your exhaust with out tuning it to your existing cam and pcm profile you will effect the balance of HP and torque.
