Hey guys! I am new here and also new to these trucks. I bought a 1998 Tahoe about a month ago and have been loving it. I have learned a ton of stuff from this site and have been enjoying it very much. Truck as stated is a 1998 Tahoe LT 4X4 with 234K on the clock. Motor replaced about 25-30K ago with reman and changed fluid and filter at that time but no other work to trans that I know of. Anyway here is the problem...

About a week ago I was driving home and came to a stop sign. There was dirt on the turn from some road construction and I took off a little fast spinning the tires. The trans didn't like it very good and shifted very funny (for the first time since I bought the truck). Anyway, the next day when driving to work it was stuck in 3rd (Limp Mode). After work I took it to the local general purpose shop and it shifted through the gears but didn't seem to want to shift from 2 to 3 but eventually did and shifted into OD fine. They put it on the computer and showed it was a solenoid in the tranny. They said they didn't know if that was the problem but that was the code that showed up. Anyway, I told them to go ahead and replace both solenoids while they had the pan off and change filter and fluid too. Well, they did and it is doing the exact same thing. Any opinions? Do I need to just take it to a tranny shop? I know nothing about transmissions. Oh, and the fluid looked great and there was no shavings or anything in the pan when they took it off.

Thank you in advance for any advice!

Used my cheap eBay scanner and showed P0758 and P0758P. Booklet says that is "Shift Solenoid B Electrical". Don't know what the "P" is for after second code. Replaced both shift solenoids and it's doing the same thing. Thanks for looking!!!

Thanks! I don't have the equipment to check some of these things but maybe I can at least check fuses and wiring harness for wire trouble. Will keep you informed. Thanks again!

FYI... Took Tahoe to transmission shop. After replacing ignition switch and it still doing same thing, they figured out it was the computer. After getting one from junk yard and having dealership program it, transmission is working fine. This is just a follow up for anyone reading in the future. Thanks!
