Hi all-

And Happy Labor Day! I thought I'd be productive and get the rear door/drivers side open on the yukon. It's been stuck for awhile.

Not sure what else there is to try. Here's the symptoms:

It's partially closed/opened. It'll open about half an inch, but won't fully close either.

The outside handle seems to function. Inside seems to work as well. Same with the lock. The automatic lock appears to unlock it as well.

I removed the panel fully and operated all of the levers. They work.

I've grabbed the levers and tried to open, while someone on the outside lifts the lever as well. I've lifted the door, violently shaken it back and forth to maybe free up the latch.

Nothing seems to work, but everything seems to be working! It seems to me that the latch is simply stuck either with mud/dirt/whatever else. I may have to replace the mechanism. But I can't open the door to do that-

any ideas? I've done a lot of searching, but I can't seem to find anything that would assist in opening this door.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Nope. I can't see the latch mechanism at all. If I could only get a wire in there and pull it back while hitting the handle I could maybe get lucky. But the way these rear doors are designed that's next to impossible.

I'd spray the hell out of it with pb blaster or wd 40 and persuade it open. I've gotten stuck door open like that barn door shouldn't be an acception

Grease didn't work. Plan B was invoked. At least it was a happy ending- well, kinda. $160 for the latch. The door is a bit dirty, but hey- we use it :)

Yeah= the 11 year old ninja-in-training crawled inside and kicked it till it popped open. It came to that.. the latch is hard to locate, but I found it for $140 - $20 to 2 day Fedex. Dealer wanted $250.
