i did a thread search but didn't come up with anything definitive. Knowing when to use 2WD is easy enough and 4WD is almost as easy, but when and how should Auto 4WD be used? I drive about two hours a day on the free back and forth to work and then mostly arterial streets before and after. I'd always switched in and out as I saw fit and as road conditions dictated, but basically just noticed the Auto 4WD and was curious as to how much stuff remained engaged when using it. Thoughts?

Auto 4wd just uses speed sensors to determine wheel slippage. Based on that the auto function would unlock the shift motor and allow adaptive torque to be applied as needed thru the clutch system.
