Looking to buy a '99 4-door 4x4 and it has a few issues that I need some advice with, as I've never owned a chevy.

It's 4wd, but the buttons on the dash don't light up when they're pushed to engage it and it doesn't make any noise. The 2WD light isn't on either. I'm not sure what the deal is with this, I'm just wondering if it's a common problem?

The other thing is, what lifts would you recommend for 33's? Does anyone make rock sliders for the tahoe?

Thanks in advance and nice forum. :hands:

When you push the switch, does the 4x4 actually work? I had this issue with mine, and i fixed it by replaced the switch, and that resolved it.

Nope, it doesn't seem like the switch is getting any power at all. Not even the 2WD light is on.

I asked on the shout box and was told to check the fuses and relays first, then move my way on.

I checked out the running gear and everything is solid and in good working order, I just want to make sure it's not an expensive ECU or something like that.

Def. check the fuses first, then move on to the switch. That ran me about $80 from the dealer. It doesn't sound like an ECU problem

the other thing that happens with mine is that the circuit board that is behind the button isnt fully locked into the button cause of how i take my dash off i guess, but it doesnt always engage because its loose behind the button

its actually how i have made my cd delete pocket, its too long, so the dash sticks out a tad, far enough that it doesnt light up unless i push on the bottom of the dash trim

It definitely sounds as if the control module has no power. Is the service 4wd light on?

Not sure, as I said, I was simply looking at it. I haven't bought it yet.

I'm still shopping around to make sure I get something I'm going to like. :Handshake:
