I have heard that there is a plug behind the glove box, that if you unplug it and plug it back in it will reset your timing to your computer. true or false

I know when I rebuilt mine I had to take it to be scanned and set with the computer. nothing I did would get it running right.

When I put mine back in I battled it over a month fooling with plugs, wires, cap rotor, etc...

It would run fine then spit and sputter then run fine, it was crazy. No consistancy whatsoever. Finally took it to a good GM mechanic and he scanned it and set the timing electronically in about 10 minutes. It was 21 degrees off.

Norton that is for tbi engines. Your vortec requires a use of a scanner that. Can read CAM RETARD.you tun the engine to about 1000_1500 rpm. Later one for the 1999 pcms and you get your reading then. You adjust the dizzy till the reading is between -2.0° to +2.0 °. 0.0° is ideal. That is all.
