Hello everyone,

I am looking for a modest lift for my 96 2 door Tahoe. I am only looking to run a 285/75r16 size tires so I don't want a full 6 inch lift, which is mostly all I am finding. I am sure most will say I want to go higher, but I've had a truck with a 6 inch lift for 12 years and don't want to go that high with this one.

I was looking at the 2.5 inch Skyjacker lift http://skyjacker.com/product.php?ProdID=34130 and was hoping maybe someone here has had some experience with this kit. I also don't want to do a body lift or just crank on the torsion bars. I would like to lift it properly to prevent any excess stress on the front end.

If anyone has any input or experience with this kit or an alternative I would be grateful to hear it.

Thanks!

It does decrease the upper ball joint angle and cv joint angle.

although the lower ball joint angle will remain the same as well as added stress to the tie rod ends, pitman and idler arm.

I actually don't know a good alternative myself, no lift I've found under 4" is a complete lift kit that retains factory geometry of the entire suspension and steering system.

As stated above, it adds stress still.

Look into the de-cranked Rough Country 4"kit. That is if you want a suspension lift over the body lift

Since it drops the differential down 2 inches, would the lower ball joints and other parts retain a factory position if the torsion bars remain uncranked? Does the 2 inch lift come from the differential drop?

The differential drop just lowers the center solid axle part of your front axle to reduce cv joint angle, no lift is gained from it.

The lift is really just a glorified kit that masks the idea of cranking your torsion bars or installing lift keys, which is basically the same method also being what this kit does to give you the 2.5 front lift.
marketing hoopla from a well known company, IMO.

the 4" suspension lift, as suggested by Bowtiefreak, is the only lift that isn't 6" and retains factory steering and suspension geometry.

a body lift works well with 285/75.
I run the 3" Body lift with 285/75 tires on the truck pictured below.
Also if you invest a little time and creativity into it, the 3" Body lift doesn't look bad.

Jerky Arm Ape, what 3" body lift did you use? I am wanting to get one and am new to Chevy and lifting, but seems like a good way to get a little height for a dd
