im new to this forum. ive been on the fullsizechevy forum for a few years. I picked up my '01 tahoe from the original owner about a month ago. its 2wd with the 5.3 with just over 140k on it. it needs some things fixed like the abs module, the front end needs a little work and the gage cluster is a little jacked up. i plan on fixing all that over the winter and start bigger mods in the spring like dropping it and some paint and body work.

so far i replaced the stock tail lights with led ones off ebay. picked up a set of 20s locally real cheap. and replaced the hood with a HD hood. the stock one had dents and rust in the middle of it from the original owners husband dropping a weed whip on it.. i have the rest of the parts for the HD front end but so far havent had the time to put it all on.

How it sits today.

Far as I know you just replace the Electro-Hydraulic Control Unit... Which is mounted to the left frame rail underneath the drivers seat.

Actually though your best bet is to get it scanned with a tech 2 or I just went to the dealer, I dont know really know much about scanners. Anyways, get the codes from the scanner and you will know where you stand. The EHCU currently is not setting a Check Engine light for me but is the only code the dealers scanner will produce. That being said, Im not going to replace my Wheel Speed Sensors which are located inside the hub/bearing assembly at each front wheel. I am going to replace the EHCU assembly with a used one if I can find it. ABS is nice to have for sure - especially with that much know!!
