2001 Stepper Motors?

Does anyone know where to get the steppers for the 2001 Denali XL, transmission temp gauge? All the sources I've found, (e-bay, basiccarparts.com, etc.), all show '03-'06 ONLY. And, they tell me these will NOT work for the '00-'02's.
I really don't want to go the junkyard route.

i didnt think pre 03 used stepper motors for the gauges

I saw a video on youtube, where a guy replaced one on an '01 Suburban (I think), and they definitely looked different then the '03+. In fact, there was no soldering involved. He just gave the ?thing? a 1/4 turn, and it came right out.
So, does anyone know what they're called, and where to get 'em?

Having same issue now. I can't find anything for my 2001 Suburban. Did you ever find a part number or repair to fix the 2000-2002? I soldered in new stepper motors for my 2003 Tahoe I used to have.
