Thanks for all the replies. Great advice.
Update: I had a good look at the tires unfortunately the sidewalls looked like a dry creek bed....
Switched out the tires with some goodyear wrangler trailrunners.
So far it looks like the gamble is going to pay off. All the fluids look good, haven't found any real troubles yet.
Had to order a new window regulator for the passenger side, but that's about the worst of it so far.
