I have a 2001 Yukon SLT that I purchased brand new and has never ever had any maintenance done besides oil changes, tires, battery and a few serpentine belts. It has 246000 miles on it and runs like a champ. I would like to have my transmission fluid flushed but from recent experience on older GM's once you flush the transmission, it never quite works the same. is it a good idea to flush mine or leave it as it is. the fluid does need to be changed. its not red anymore like is should be. everything on this truck is factory and has never had any maintenance work. I'm a firm believer in if it aint broke, dont fix it. Any suggestions????????

I am one of the few around here that believes in flushing transmission fluid, BUT that is flushing every couple of years depending on mileage, temp, tow, etc. These transmissions don't often seem to make it to 246k, let alone one that hasn't been taken care of. It's a crap shoot either way, I can't see it lasting too much longer, so I might just save the money for when it does take a dump.

DAM 246K miles and you never changed the tranny fluid. I hit 77k and i changed ALL fluids and i really mean ALL. Keep it full and leave it alone. Wish it lasts another 246k miles for you but i doubt it will.

at 246k you have nothing to lose and everything to gain by flushing the tranny..if it ***** the bed it owes you nothing so count your blessings and replace it

if it shifts better, you are in the "black"
