I've searched and searched and read a lot of threads concerning this, but haven't actually SEEN any solutions for removing the slave CD changer in the Yukon Denali's and Escalades and replacing it with a pocket. I have seen suggestions of a single-DIN pocket and trying to mount it but nobody that has actually finished the install and shown pics of the finished product. If you've done this, please let me know your solution and post some pics. I just finished a DD HU in my '02 Yukon Denali using '03 dash components and thought I had this covered with a Metra 88-02-3302 but it seems it's way too narrow so I had to stick my old changer back in the hole. I will reclaim my space!

There is a factory replacement pocket by Metra for the single disc player/ cassette deck slave units but they're narrower. I have one of those, it doesn't work. Thanks though. There has to be others out there who have removed their CD changers?

I could have sworn I used the metra pocket in my 03 and it fit no problem.

I stopped by my local car stereo shop and they searched all their suppliers but couldn't find a solution so I opted to try a single-DIN pocket , Metra 98-8999. It's designed for Mitsu/Subaru/ VW... The changer is an exact single-DIN size, just the mounting in my Denali is different. It has the pinch clips that slide into place, just like the HU had. I think it was just a few years that had that mount, '02 was the last. I removed the clips from my changer and with a little modification and careful measurements I was able to attach them and the pocket slid into place perfectly. Anybody else that has this problem, this is a pretty simple fix.

Thats exactly what I did to my 03.

The 03's are screwed in like the head units though aren't they? I saw one member mount one like that in an 02 but it wasn't very sturdy. He had to put a block of wood to take any weight and the face of it was glued to the bezel. I know the 03 radio cage I used mounts the HU with screws into clips on the face. Its not as sturdy as the clips that slide in and relies on the back to sit on something to take the weight. The console cage on the 02's dont have a way for the face clips to attach. It would seem that if the head units are mounted completely different on the 03's and up, the CD changers would also. Or am I wrong about that?
