Hey guys, I need some help and soon. I have an 02 suburban that suddenly (this morning) has gone crazy.

It will crank but as soon as it "seems" to start it dies. Also, when you switch the key to the run position without cranking it, the guages do not work and, the dummy light sort of cycles thru all of the messages...Service engine, Service 4x4, low fuel, etc. It has at least a half-a-tank of fuel. Initially I was thinking maybe fuel pump, but since the dash is acting so crazy now I am not so sure. This is my wife's car and I just had to put about $300 into last week on cat converter, and CSPS. She is not happy, and I REALLY don't want to trade...but I see it coming if I don't get this fixed ASAP.

so all gauges eventually go out, do you hear the fuel pump with key on the ON position?

I will check.

Turns out, all of the gauges seem to work, except the gas gauge. It was just filled up on Sunday so I know it isn't out of gas. Is it normal for it to cycle thru the idoit lights?

Have you checked the battery connections?

The side post terminals can cause some strange issues if the connections become corroded or loose.

Mine acts exactly like this when the battery dies. check the connections/battery. maybe plug it in for a little.

Well as it turns out, the batter did have some bad cells. I replaced it with a brand new one and it still won't start. I will crank just fine but not start. The bad battery wouldn't have caused any other damage would it?
