I had a leak at the threaded joint between the high and low a/c charging ports. New o-ring, vacuum and replaced freon. Several days later I am back to very poor cooling. The high pressure port is leaking and I have been unable to stop it. Is there a way to replace this valve without opening the system? If not, I guess it means just wait two more days and it will probably be at zero pressure.

I have also been trying to find this part, obviously it thread onto the fitting brazed onto the metal line. So far, I have not been able to locate the replacement part. does it have a special name...or is this a dealer item.

Any help and advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I did one a cadillac and the old lady's Dodge. The caddy had a screw on connector, and you were unable to pull the valve out. So you would replace the entire fitting. The Dodge had a valve that unscrewed, exactly like a tire valve but bigger, required the larger tool. Once I arrived at the auto parts store I inquired about this being a dodge specific part. He said you just have to bring them and match them up because there are several different kinds and there isnt much rhyme or reason as to what manufacturers used which ones. Yes, you will have to recharge.
