Im in need of a right rear caliper for my 2003 tahoe ls. The other one got fu{ked when my caliper bolt decided to back out while driving. I priced Napa, Kragen and Autozone for calipers all with lifetime warranty. Napa has the caliper bracket AND caliper for $85 after a 40 dollar core charge. The dealer wants $193 for JUST the caliper! Also the pad is toast sooooo guess Im getting new brakes! I had Napa premiums, anyone know of a good brand that I can pick up local from the above stores???? Thanks fella's.....cant wait to get my 'hoe rollin again :grd:

One thing to remember, the "aftermarket" caliper you're looking at is actually a reman whereas the dealer part should be brand new. That's why there is a price difference. Probably will be no issues at all with going with the reman. I would suggest GM brake pads though (make sure they're GM and not AC/Declo Durastop, there is a difference). Yes they're expensive, they they'll easily last 100k and probably 2 or 3 sets of aftermarket pads.

91RS is right on about the Caliper, But I disagree on the O.E. pads it depends on the driver and the style of driving, Also I perfer Hawk or EBC Pads. But I would take O.E. over Cheaper ones not all aftermarket Pads are Crap.

I haven't tried EBC pads, but I put Hawk pads on my Trailblazer and they were the loudest most annoyingly embarasing pads I've ever used. They were so bad I actually used my parking brake in drive throughs so everyone wouldn't stare. Replaced them with GM front pads and Delco Durastop rear pads and I have MUCH less brake dust with my current setup over the Hawks (surprised me too).

I really don't remember to be honest, but I don't think it was long. I do know that as soon as I replaced them it was quiet. I tried BG brake silencer and that worked for maybe a week.

Thanks everyone, ya I found out the caliper is a reman factory one which is great so I went to napa and got it. I have hawk pads on the front but used jegs online ordering for the rears and ordered 2 pads and they didnt fit on my 2wd 4.8. I guess they have 3-4 different part #'s so I got sick of it and went to Napa ultra premium cermics. Any idea on the hawk issue? I would like those for the future....
