how are you doing? new to this website

i just bought an 03 Tahoe on Saturday with 135k miles on it

i knew it was going to have some issues with it but i bought it anyways

well i have several questions regarding 3 codes that show on the DIC

the 3 codes are " service air bag" "service 4wd" "service suspension"
i have a scanner and will be getting the codes today.
my truck sits higher then normal because i parked next to another Tahoe and mine was higher so im guessing it was lifted.
havent had time to crawl underneath yet to check for after market parts.
I do hear the air compressor kick on

does anyone know what the standard ride height should be for this truck?
i am planning on putting 26" rims on my truck since it sits higher than normal ride height

also apart from the codes there is this noise coming from under the dash on the driver side that sounds like a bell everytime i hit a bump or pothole
i did a quick check looking for any loose metal brackets or something but nothing. i know i have to do a more thorough check.

the temp degree readout on the rearview mirror is not working only the compass works. i read that it might have something to do with the air bag fuse due to a short.

i have a lot of basic checks to do so i just wanted to start this thread to get some insight

thanks in advance and sorry for all the questions and the long post

I have a '03 Yukon and for me the Air Bag code was the crash sensor behind the radiator. Bought one through Amazon....replaced it and voila...code gone.

I too had the temp go out on my rearview but for me the compass is also gone. Haven't bothered/tried to fix them yet....I'm not sure where that gremlin is but given as its both I am wondering if its a sensor or something else. I do get power there but the readout is gibberish.

Good luck with the other codes.

thanks for the info

did you pull the code first before you changed the sensor?

yep....I scanned it...checked the code online....saw it was isolated to that sensor so I changed it out. When I started it the airbag light went right off....I rescanned it to double check and no code. I didn't need to cancel the code or anything. Replacing it caused it to cycle appropriately and the system saw it as good to go.

I hooked up my scanner to it and it has no stored codes

I also noticed that the "service 4wd" message went away but the"service ride control" and service air bag" message is still on

I havent driven the truck at alk since I bought it.

I tried pressing the info button on the steering wheel but it does not change anything on the DIC

I turned on the engine and I decided to put it in neutral and press the 4wd buttons
When I pressed the "auto 4wd" button it stays illuminated
I tried pressing the other buttons and they will not illuminate

I never had a 4wd truck before so Im probably doing something wrong
All I know is that you have to have it in neutral when engaging

Another thing I forgot to mention is that the previous owner hooked up an amp and subs to the stock radio. So the volume, seek, and source buttons do not function

Also the compass and temp reading on the rear view mirror comes in and out.
Sometimes if I press the powrr button it comes on and at other times it doesn't do anything

I also checked all of the fuses in the engine compartment and they are all good

Any suggestions?
