I have a 2003 Yukon, the front end will not engage. I hear the actuator moving, we have replaced the actuator and it still didnot engage the front end. Drive shaft is turning but the front end will not engage. Also I took the actuator and tried to manually move it and I still could not get the front end to lock in.

:welcome: Technically your in the wrong year forum wise but that is okay. The shift fork is broken or engagement sleeve is stripped. You should be able to get to them by taking just the extension tube apart. Similar as below.

Removal Procedure

83398544

  1. Remove the axle shaft (output shaft) and tube assembly.
  2. Remove the shift shaft (12), damper spring (13), fork (14) and clip (15) assembly.
  3. Remove the spring (16) from the carrier case. Take care not to dislodge the shim (20) from the axle shaft (output shaft).
Installation Procedure

83398545

  1. Install the spring (16) into the carrier case.
  2. Install the shift shaft (12), damper spring (13), fork (14), and clip (15) assembly into the axle tube. Make sure that the clip fully seats into the groove on the shift lever.
  3. Install the axle shaft (output shaft) and tube assembly.
