2004 Tahoe 5.3ltr (Z) z71 (off road), z82 (towing package), and gt4 (3.73 axle ratio). I'm confused as to which fan clutch to get.

My Choices are:

Severe duty. With A/C, With towing, but the side notes denote 4.10 axle ratio...

Heavy duty. With A/C (no towing), but side notes denote my axle ratio.

Severe duty, With A/C (no towing, again proper axle ratio.

I don't tow much more than a medium sized utility trailer often, but I bought the thing to be able to tow my Jeep around if I ever get the damn thing put back together. My instinct says Severe Duty, With towing, 4.10 axle. What would you put on it?

i just replaced mine to
i found out the severe duty one the only difference is the clutch is built to last longer since its for a vehicle thats going to be under a load excessivly
if you live in a normal climate and rarely tow anything the standerd one is fine
the exception to that is if you live here in arizona id go with the severe duty no matter what the summers here that fan clutch stays engaged unless your on the freeway
oh and before you look into electric fans and you already got a beefy stereo system running on the factory alternator make sure you got the extra amperage to spare or you will shortin your battery life considerably

Axle ratio determines driving rpms. Meaning getting the wrong one won't make it work better necessarily. I'd probably stick to the standard duty since you don't tow much.
