Alright boys, I need help. New backup camera has a very different wiring setup. It’s much simpler but the included harness is backwards to what it had before. Basically it needs power, ground, and a video port from the radio which is done. However my radio is not hooked up to the reverse switch at all. So I need to do that.

Where the hell is a wire I can tap into for reverse lights? Preferably around the dash area.
Someone on tyf tapped into the bcm for the backup wire.

I found it, I was going nuts tapping into every wire I could find but it wasn’t triggering the camera. I actually thought maybe the trans reverse sensor went out, but then found the fuse was blown . I have a feeling my old camera was probably fine and for some reason the fuse popped.

What wire did you tap to?

There’s an olive green or lighter green color wire coming from the BCM. Super simple to splice into, I’ve heard that using your keyless entry will potentially make the camera flash on and off, but my keyless never gets used. I just leave that ***** open because nobody can steal a stick anyway and I have good insurance lol.

Me too, makes you feel real damn dumb. I also wasn’t sure if my reverse switch activated with the engine not running. So everytime I tried to test something I’d climb in and fire it up. Which then of course requires the clutch to be pressed and makes everything annoying lol.

Anyway it’s all done! Hopefully nothing weird happens on the trip Saturday and I can tear my ranger down for all new drivetrain and suspension.

All loaded up ready to roll, air bags even held air over night!

Spent some time talking to my powder man today and he’s convincing me to SAS/4x4 my Tahoe with a newer power wagon front axle. Then slap an H2 14b in the rear, for matching 4.10s and lockers front and rear. Slap some 8x165>8x180 adapters on with some 2022 AT4 wheels and 35s and be ready for work.

He does a lot of brodozer solid axle show quality lifts, and says he can do all the brackets, link, steering, shocks and springs. However, transfer case and drive shaft is on me. So I’ll likely pull the 2wd tranny and send it off for a rebuild/4x4 conversion. Then for transfer case I will either do the 2500, manual floor shift case, or talk to Off-road design and look at one of their badass twin stick units. Not because I need double low, but because if your gonna do it might as well do it right #randeez.

It seems silly, but for years I’ve been tossing around the idea of getting a new diesel with a manual trans and 4x4. However 30-40k for a truck that I will want to do a bunch of mods too is kinda dumb. I think I can be in less than $10k and will actually be happier with the Tahoe than I would a 40k truck because truck beds are worthless when it rains, and I don’t want something that’s difficult to park. I should also be able to sell a lot of my parts because basically the entire suspension and rear axle will be for sale as a bolt in ready to go kit.

its the perfect place to sit while driving
My buttocks was moistening as I read that.

What case did you use? I’m seriously considering this swap. Id do a simple factory ifs swap if the gmt800s didn’t use such a mega **** front diff because I want a locker up there that won’t explode everytime I touch the skinny pedal to the floor and dump the clutch.
