Hello,

I am new to this forum, I own a Tahoe and a Yukon.

The Tahoe was stolen and the police recovered it within
48 hours. I think they were interrupted in the process of
stripping the vehicle. However, the wiring harness above the
rear-view mirror was cut in half.

Can someone please give me advice on repairing or
replacing. What the wiring harness is called?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Ooh, that's rough.

Do you have both ends or is anything missing? Can you, or do you know someone who can solder?

If it's the same wiring that I'm thinking of and if it's the same as my 05 Suburban, it will be glued to the actual headliner and be a part of a much larger harness which includes rear HVAC stuff and the dome lights. It all plugs in behind the instrument cluster, follows the left A pillar under the trim, where it follows along on top of the headliner. The glue they used to adhere the harness to the headliner is really, really tough and removing it can easily destroy the headliner itself...ask me how I know :( In other words, a real pain to replace. It involves removing the dash cap, a pillar trim and dropping the headliner, a major PITA in itself.

Anyway, if you have everything, I would solder and heat shrink the harness back together if it was mine. If you're missing a part of it, hit the junk yards and find what you need, then solder/heat shrink. I guess you could crimp it back together but, solder is better.

PS Are we talking about the part of the harness going to the rear view mirror itself, or stuff up above, where the rear HVAC controls would be, if you have them? Where exactly is it cut? Pictures would help a lot.

Here is a look at the wiring harness hot glued to the headliner on my 2006 Tahoe. Like emilime75 said. It is one big harness that connects the rear a/c, dome lights, mirror and map lights and then runs down thru the driver's A pillar and under the dash. Dropping the headliner is a PITA because all the trim has to come off, a few screws and plugs, but it can be done. I already had my carpet out, so I was half way there with removal. I did very carefully peel off the wiring harness from my headliner and then hot glue gunned it back in place. Just depends what direction you want to take. Good luck.
