I haven't been driving this rig much for the last 5 months, but it seems odd that now when I am on level ground, brake pedal pushed in, in 'drive', and when I release the pedal the care will accelerate to 10-12 mph. I feel like I'm trying to hold back a horse that wants to get going. What adjustments can I make so when I release the brake, the care doesn't move?

Idle speed 800. Z71 v8.

Thanks for any advice.

800 seems a bit high for idle. you dont say what year, so i dont know if you have a cable or wire to throttle body.
and im not even sure of it, but a throttle relearn may correct the idle, if its drive by wire not cable.

04 will have the drive by wire, its what i have. look up the throttle relearn, i did it over the summer but forgot what it is.
that may be your issue.

And now i feel like an *******. i just realized your thread title had the year in it.

Heh, no worries, cuz you solved my problem! I blew out the O2 sensor at the air filter, removed the negative cable from the batter for 5 minutes, put it all back together--- and it drives as it should. Thanks!
